Carrieres de Lumieres new 2017 exhibition

We were many, last Friday evening,  to queue for the opening night of the famous Carrières de Lumière (Quarry of light) in les Baux de Provence to discover the latest show.

This year's show presents works from
Jerome Bosch (NL 1450-1516) Primitive Flemish
Pieter "the old" Brueghel (NL 1525-1569) Renaissance Flemish
Giuseppe Arcimboldo (IT 1527-1593) famous for its "phytomorph painting"

As well as a short movie around the life of French movie director Georges Melies (1861-1938).

Over the years, I never found a proper way to describe the Carrières de Lumières and now stick to "99% of the people I took there loved it and were amazed". Just enjoy walking inside the painting and merge in them.

This year's new technology present movement in the painting.

The main show runs for 40 minutes, followed by the short 10 minutes Melies show.
The show runs permanent so, if you walk in during the show, you'll be able to see what you missed later.

Carrières de Lumières
Les Baux de Provence
9.30 to 7pm (April to October)
Last entrance 6pm
Entrance 12 €
Until January 7th 2018

My advise :
Don't forget to bring a sweater as temperature inside the quarry is rather cool (in the 60s even in warm weather).
As you walk in, step aside for a few seconds in order to "ajust yourself" in the moving images.
